MAWS code
#297485 - 10/13/12 09:23 AM Attachment: maws_backup_20111224.rar 16381 KB (80 downloads)

After this thread and this thread I have has a couple of people requesting the MAWS code base so I thought I'd post it here.

A few things:
* I have no idea how the code was exploited. I suspect it might have been due to my ancient version of phpMySQL but I have no idea. The code has been reviewed by a number of people who haven't found anything.
* The original MAWS code is a nightmare. This is because I wrote it quickly, thinking I'd have severe hosting limitation. I tried to re-write it a few times but never got far enough to surpass the functionality of the original. There isn't a document.
* Yes, I'm still alive and thinking about MAWS but don't have enough of an itch to remake the whole thing. I don't rule it out but don't expect anything.

Some basic info:

/guzzler - miniMAWS code base
/maws/ - maws code
/maws/dinfo - static HTML for drivers pages
/maws/ninfo - static HTML for set pages
/minimaws/ - directory for minimaws .htaccess files and CSS
/thingie4sql - phpMySQLAdmin install (old)
/tool - loading tools for miniMAWS

Database settings are in:
/guzzler/_config.php
/maws/include.php

I have reset username and password to xxx and yyy.

miniMAWS is my most advanced re-write. It has online loading tools
that split/parse the XML. MAWS does this offline on my machine and
then I upload static files via FTP and SQL via phpMySQLAdmin. miniMAWS
doesn't have the search features and new & changed.

Thanks for making files available. It has taken me a bit of time to learn how to work with ProgettoEMMA site, but got used to it. The one thing I always miss about MAWS no longer being around is the gamelist.txt file feature that displays the status list of games in 4 column categories of whether working or having correct color or missing audio. I always used that when a new release of MAME was released.

If you do return later to redo MAWS, you'll get to sort through pinball games, fruit machine games and pong. :-)

Part of the appeal is the fact that the XML has quadrupled in size

I do have a Perl script for that that is independent from the rest of the MAWS code. I've attached that as well as the one that lists unknown dips, hilist, and dump status.

Anyone feel free to do whatever you want with these.

That wouldn't be difficult to add, nor would it be difficult to ask for "what did MAWS had that I don't"?
Point is: when I developed progettoemma (with big help from CBW, I will never thank him enough) I tried to make somethign that wasn't just "Italian MAWS", but a different site, with a different approach and accessibility. I had chosen NOT TO make something, like the gamelist.txt, because "MAWS already had, no need to duplicate". Now, If I begin to add all things MAWS did and I don0t, it would be like accepting that MAWS will never come back. And this is a thing I am not willing to do, still hope ther ewill be better time for CBW and MAWS will be back!
