Area 51 shows a segmentation fault 11.

Hello there, this error has happened on both 64-bit W7 and Mountain Lion binaries, I don't have anything else to say here so thanks in advance

I thought the Federal Government denied Area 51's existence!
So how can there be a segmentation fault when Area 51 doesn't exist?

Well the government has fooled you!
Anyway, what I think is that 0.146 or 0.147 broke the game, because back in 0.144- 0.145 it worked perfectly...

Area 51 plays fine here. Can you better describe in detail how to reproduce your error?

Did you delete the cfg, diff and nvram files before you use the newer MAME? Gotta clean those out on every new MAME installed.

Thanks a lot for your input, gentlemen, but after I downloaded the area51 chd in .zip format (had it in .7z because I had to delete it along with the rest of my collection to free some space) the problem "mutated" into a missing chd/rom files error, but I just found what I needed and now I'm shooting things like crazy again thanks again and good day!!

You should never zip or 7zip or rar or anything else .chd files. They have internal compression (so you won't gain any significant space anyway), and putting them in a zip or 7zip defeats the ability of MAME to stream the data and forces the file to be unpacked into memory which will take hundreds of megs for area51.
