DU Update: Long nose, short game

We got Fearless Pinocchio. It's a fighter targeted at the younger crowd. There are special moves but only 1 attack button and the game seems to be pretty short. You fight something like 3 rounds and it's complete.

Fortunately, Pinocchio is a public-domain character, having originated in an 1883 novel.

And since the sprite doesn't look particularly like the film version, I'd say they're in the clear, unless there's some sort of IP infringement not obvious from the screenshots.

How is that moronic? If Mamedev is that afraid of being sued by Disney, then they don't need to include it.
When Cave asked Mamedev to remove some of their shooters, Mamedev complied and people complained, but the controversy soon went away.

Let's see...
-Already mentioned in this thread that Pinocchio is public domain
-There are already games in mame with Disney characters (Magical Tetris Challenge, Goofy in some Korean puzzle game)
-The game is by IGS, if anyone would be sued it would have been them in 2006, if it infringed which it obviously didn't
-Even if they did sue IGS and win the rights to the game, you can't own the rom crcs, which is the only part of the game that would be a part of mame

Fortunately (?) it's probably unemulatable (ROM code locked up in an ARM MCU), so adding it to MAME is unlikely to anger any lawyers.

Folks used to like seeing new NG games come out and IGS games get secured or dumped. These days acting like a douche bag in a Belmont circle jerk is the thing to do. I guess I just can't keep up with the trends anymore.

Got a decap lab? Haze says it's not running in MAME without one, and I tend to believe him on this IGS stuff.
