Go to radio shack and buy a generic 120V AC to 12V DC wall adapter. you can probably find one with a reverse car adapter, or just solder the wires together.
Only one with amperage specs gave 800mA, so I'd get something that will put out at least 1.5A
Or you can just wire in a decent sized 12V battery, but then you'll need a charger.
This would do the job, even if you had to cut wires.

Thanks! But all of this does require cutting and/or soldering? Probably I should find a local pal who's handy with a soldering iron?

depends. if the TV comes with a cigarette style power adapter, you can just buy the one I linked and be done. If it comes with a standard barrel jack type, you may be able to buy a universal DC adapter that will fit it at radio shack. if it comes with just wires, you will need to solder, or buy good crimp connectors. either way doesn't take much skill, you can be walked through the process easily.

I wonder if the delay created by the electronics would be harmful?
Why not just use a mirror?
(Really, what would they have done 100 years ago?)

So far, I had been using an LG DVD player with AV-In, and that was just fine for latency. I want to replace that because it's just a little too thick for comfortable use on most piano music-stands. > Why not just use a mirror?
Not flexible enough to accommodate all the various positions I've been in relative to the conductor.
