ST-V sound
#294649 - 08/28/12 03:25 PM

been playing with some of the ST-V stuff on mame. r silvergun mostly.

my sound is glitchy... is this the emulation?

i recently upgraded my cpu to a AMD phenom 9600 quadcore....

i only have 2 gigs of ram though (it on my list of next upgrades)

RAM will likely not help.. frameskip however will.
It's an intensive game that, without speed ups, does not perform well in emulation unless you have a top of the line box. The sound and video are known to not be 100%, so don't expect perfection.

what about sample rate?

wouldnt a lower sample rate improve performance?

also, i know its not a powerhouse, but wouldnt a quadcore amd phenom 9600 be able to run ridge racer at least?

im really disappointed with this processor if thats how its going to be....

my previous cpu was a AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+

Check the frame rate counter (press F11), are you dropping below 100% speed when the sound glitches? Because RSG is pretty much the music our audio emulation was built for (and the SSF rips sound great in AO and the AOSSF plugin).

AMD is a bad choice for emulators ever since the Intel Core 2 hit.

i fully agree that amd isnt the best choice, but its all i got

anyway.

with my old

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+

the fps for silvergun was around 66%

on my new

Phenom x4 9600 its also around 66%

so from asking on other forums it appears that my cpu might not have been the bottleneck etc...

any suggestions? i know this isnt emulation anymore.. but moreso hardware

Some stuff is too intesive to emulate even on the best spec availible today, such as the Naomi.

Try

Enabling

Multithreading

In

mame.ini

And see

If the framerate

improves.
