Has anyone every slipstreamed XP SP3 and then installed from USB

I have a Dell mini9 that I want to put XP on. But I don't have a USB DVD Drive.

Can this be done?

I wonder if you could capture an image of a Sysprepped XP with ImageX and then write the image from a bootable UFD (USB Flash Drive). Upon first boot it will run Windows set up and install the needed drivers.

a quick google search came up with this, looks like it'll work:

I've done this. All I will say is go buy a USB DVD. The alternative is several hours of your life that you'll never get back. Even if you do get it working, which you might, the install method will come back to bite you in some way later on.

DADDY LIKE!! That is a neat little thing!

Do you remember the days when a person thought to themselves "Hey, you can't turn on that computer with the case open and have the hard drive on the desktop?!? WTF! You will break something!!" At least I had a day or two like that.
