Nice update. Looks like you missed Vs. Skate Kids (nintendo Vs game), that one has been in MAME for awhile.

I found some errors. Starting in the "To 1990" section, "Treasure Cove" in the 1982 section, is an EM game, (no video), but it may still use ROMs - a note can be made. "Monster Zero" is listed twice, in the 1982 section, where it belongs, and in the 198? section. In the 198? section is "Vega" by "Olympia?" - both question marks can be removed - it is confirmed to be by "Olympia" from 1982. In the 198? section are "Olympic Hot Stuff", and "Il Pagliaccio" - they are most certaintly from the 1990's, so they can be moved to that section. In the "From 1990" section - In 1992, "Metal Man" is a pinball machine. In 1994, "Last Bank" is now working. In 1996, "Amatic unknown" is "Super Stars" and is working.

I know you mean well, but this info is best sent directly to him, via the contact email on his site. If he had posted and asked for feedback/corrections/suggestions here - it would be a different matter. Also, if he were a more regular poster, it might not be an issue at all.

OK, I will send an Email to him if he doesn't reply in three days. I saw the other post, and thought that people were sending feedback.

Thanks for the update. There are a few updates for you and I'll send a message to you listing the updates of titles that can be removed.
btw: Good to know Atari Pong can eventually be removed. couriersud's code starting to make its rounds. July 22, 2012....the day the first non-cpu video game is fully emulated in MAME....whether at playable speed is another matter. ;-)

Pong now uses netlist.h. This implementation reproduces all gate timing and 555 related effects as described by Dr. H. Holden in his 2012 publication "ATARI PONG E CIRCUIT ANALYSIS & LAWN TENNIS". [Couriersud]
There are now two game entries: a) pongf This illustrates how a workaround has to be used in the absence of gate timing. The game uses a code based netlist. b) pong This uses gate timing at a resolution of approx. 140 MHz. The netlist itself is read from the rom region.
ROM_START( pong ) /* dummy to satisfy game entry*/ + ROM_REGION( 0x10000, "maincpu", 0 ) /* enough for netlist */ + ROM_LOAD( "pong.netlist", 0x00000, 10306, CRC(bb92b267) SHA1(0dd6b3209ac1335a97cfe159502d24556f531007) ) +ROM_END + +ROM_START( pongf ) /* dummy to satisfy game entry*/ ROM_REGION( 0x10000, "maincpu", ROMREGION_ERASE00 ) ROM_END
-GAME( 1972, pong, 0, pong, pong, 0, ROT0, "Atari", "Pong (Rev E)", GAME_IMPERFECT_COLORS | GAME_IMPERFECT_SOUND | GAME_NOT_WORKING ) +GAME( 1972, pong, 0, pong, pong, 0, ROT0, "Atari", "Pong (Rev E)", 0 ) +GAME( 1972, pongf, 0, pongf, pong, 0, ROT0, "Atari", "Pong (Rev E), no subcycles", 0 )

Interesting screen shots of Ms. Gorf, very good quality compared to original one posted when this first appeared... Would be incredible if this prototype could be emulated in MAME. Here's hoping, sit back and wait for good thing to happen. Would love to hear more about this forgotten relic from the golden age...

I guess it would probably drop right in to the Bally Astrocade driver? The problem is getting the code off of those 8" floppies, if they are still readable by now, and then assembling it into something that will run. Fenton said it was written in FORTH, like Professor Pac-Man, which runs on the same hardware.
But what if the game has never run on anything but the development system that Fenton was using? Would it be "right" to compile the code and then create a "ROM dump" for use with MAME from that?
Imagine MESS emulating the development system that were used to write the Astrocade games, and compiling Ms. Gorf on it yourself

I actually grabbed those screenshots from an old arcade story from 1982 that was posted on YouTube, and was really surprised to have never seen them used before. The game is somewhat demonstrated by a pre-op Jamie Feye Fenton. Good stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5er7gJ4uto
