chdman for Linux?

Is there any way/shape/form that I can convert my v4 chds to v5 using a linux app instead of chdman.exe?

Why don't you just compile chdman for Linux? It's even easier than doing it on Windows.

Man, never thought of that.
Can you just use the source code from the main download page for MAME? I guess I have always gotten the binaries, and never tried.

take the source from there, unzip it, enter in the directory and type "make tools"
chdman will be built (together with the other tools)

Yes, the MAME source code since 0.138 has compiled out of the box on Linux.
We have a list of packages you might need to install first here on the non-Windows MAME support board.
