Excavator games
#290572 - 06/30/12 10:56 AM

Hello,

My son loves excavators. :-D I'm looking for a way to calm him down when he is upset (He's two years old).

Are there any games for mame with excavators in it? So far I couldn't find anything, and also google-searches turned out nothing.

I you know anything even remotely similar, please tell.

:-)

There is one on the Taito Zero system called Power Shovel Simulator, but I don't think it's currently working, or might be but not playable.

Number One excavating game is...
...DIG-DUG !
And it works just fine in MAME.
Khm... ...You could try Excelsior for Yourself

Honestly, I think you need to go old school. Seriously.

Thank you all for great suggestions!

I never knew Dig Dug was an excavator game! Now that I think of it, it all makes a lot of sense. Nice one. Although my son seems to be obsessed with the giant shovel aspect of excavators.

I also played Excelsior before, but this is more like a jackhammer-game IMHO. :-D

Power Shovel Simulator looks awesome, and I'm definitely trying to get it to run. Awesome.

Totally true. I've done that before, of course.

Certainly not a MAME or Arcade game but Construction Destruction might be good for him.

I believe it uses keyboard controls so maybe you can map it to the sticks on your MAME setup.

Yeah, when I was a kid we had a tiny plastic wading pool with sand in it instead of water. That plus (metal!) Tonka construction equipment was great, if a bit messy

Right. Blarg, if you have a yard, build a sandbox for the kid.

Don't forget:
If you build it, they(animals) will come."

Don't forget a cover/lid or the younglings will be 'excavating' smelly droppings forever...

Haha, awesome Idea. I have this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000036...ASIN=B0000365KL
... though not sure if it will actually survive real sand.

Also I don't have a yard, too expensive here in Seoul. But I have some space on the open-air roof. Thinking this over now, my god that will be a mess. :-D
