It ain't the flavor that matters, but the maker. Most of the stuff in the thread is either shit or probably shit.
If you're going to buy from a mass maker, it must be something like Double Rainbow, Trader Joes ice cream (which I have a hankering may be made by Double Rainbow), or the like. If you're getting it at any regular grocery store, it's probably shit. Breyers, Dreyers, and Blue Bunny are unequivocal shit.
Outside of the US, I can't say as much.
Consider it high comedy....sincere tragedy....whatever...don't take it personally.

No, wait... Double Rainbow? There are seven flavors you can buy. That's it. All the other flavors are giant tubs for food service use, which means they pretty much don't exist unless you find an ice cream shop that sells THAT brand, which they typically don't advertise. Trader Joe's is 26 miles/42 minutes away, in friggin' Wayne.

While I live close to one, I go every eight days. Make it a weekend thing.
Double Rainbow has their own shops, housing twenty or thirty flavors....but I think those are only in SF.
I mostly eat plain vanilla, anyways. REAL ice cream is at least 18 grams of fat, the cream and milk coming from non-rBST, grass munching cows. It's the quality of the base flavor, else you're just polishing a turd.
It's not my fault you live in hick- or crackerville. Then again, you might find a local place that makes it home-stya. On that note, you could make your own.

Europe seems like that with lots of things....
I prefer higher fat stuff, though. The gelato you get at good restaurants around here (they make their own) is probably 25%, maybe more, as it doesn't get hard in the freezer! Good shit, maynard.
