Mess Bezels

Are there any sites with M.E.S.S. bezel artwork for popular consoles like Atari 2600 or Colecovision or an 80s TV maybe.I did make some but im not happy with them too much.

I’m convinced Mario is a hobo.
He wakes up everyday in the same clothes, runs around in sewers, and collects coins for a living.
At the end of the day, he uses the coins to buy mushrooms

Wouldn't the bezel be a picture of the TV you had?

Should've been different files, one for channel 3 and the other for channel 4.

I don't see any pics.

And I guess MESS "bezels" would be funny (along with really nice analog-like filters for the display).

I made some bezels like this, but using higher res images from vintage tvs. If my Hds survived my pc's death (MB and Psu are certainly gone), I'll upload it some where... but first I have to buy a new pc.

HLSL, of course. MAME doesn't use half of its features, most of them are intended for NTSC simulation for MESS.

Curious if there's an effort to port Moogly's HLSL to linux/GLSL.

I've looked at cgwg's GLSL plug-ins but have had little success. I could only get it to work with a small subset of games up to a certain native resolution. Everything else (and there's a lot) just shows black. That could definitely be a case of "user error" and I'll probably re-visit it soon.

Not to diminish cgwg's hard work, I just liked the look of Moogly's HLSL work when I tried it out on windows. And best as I tried, I couldn't get the GLSL shaders to look like that.

Thanks for any information...

EDIT: Did another search, and found this post from a few months back:

HLSL itself (the MAME feature) has been immature and fairly buggy until quite recently, and its author is now proposing a fairly major shakeup of MAME rendering on all platforms. Both of those mean that a "premature" port would be wasted effort, and in the meantime cgwg is doing a fantastic job with his GLSL CRT shader so that's taken away the immediate pressure.

So... I guess I'll just sit back and wait for cool things to happen

You have to chain CGWG's shader after one of the MAME stock ones for compatibility with all games. There was discussion of that on the related thread on bannister.org not too long ago.

Olivier's interested in trying to port it now as OpenGL practice for work / possible future other emulation things. I'm not going to try and stop him, in part because I have no idea how far out Moogly's going to be on his universal renderer (I suspect with E3 coming up he's going to be slammed at work for a while) and it'd be cool to have SDL more in sync with baseline in that area.

Yeah, I had it chained with the "plain" shader, something like this:

glsl_shader_mame0 ./src/osd/sdl/shader/glsl_plain
glsl_shader_mame1 ./CRT/CRT

but only older games with small native screen sizes showed anything.

I just tried mess/intv/HLSL and almost got it tweaked to perfection.

Except for the lack of dynamic effects (yiq_enable 1), which only seem to work when the slider menu is open and you scroll down a few options, it's a thing of beauty. Looks nearly like my old craptastic Zenith TV.

If I can get GLSL looking anywhere near this, I'll be a happy man. I'll take a look again tonight.

Sounds like a problem with your GL driver. Intel on-board? ATI Catalyst?

We should probably move this over to b.o where cgwg can read it too ;-)
