Hi all,
I'm new here and have searched all over the internet for an answer to my issue, but can't find what i'm looking for anywhere?
Basically, i run MAME so it appears as a 800x600px maximized window in the centre of my desktop. Im forcing aspect ratio etc. What i want to do is have the window the pops up with the game inside to be borderless. Can this be done?
So when i click a game to play the window that appears in the centre of the screen (With the game running inside) will just look like a borderless or frameless square.
Thanks if anyone can help... Martin

So you want the game full screen, but confined to a small square in the middle? That's an unusual use case, and I don't think it's possible.
On the other hand, if you just want the game to take up your full screen without windows or desktop or anything, -nowindow does that

Thanks, it's a shame i can't do that. I find games look crap if they are too big. The smaller box looks better on my 1080p Monitor.

You could use the artwork system with a custom lay file and a black bezel.

Actually, that's a pretty good idea.
Sidebar: Do you need to be able to view other things that could appear around this window?

That sounds really good. Would it be hard to do? I'm not too good in these departments.
Thanks all for your help...
I love MAME, takes me back to my teenage years of hanging around loud, seedy seaside town Arcades.

OP what are you using as a monitor? is it a 1080p tv? You said you are keeping aspect ratio? I know if you dont keep aspect ratio games looks terrible, all stretched and whatnot, but with keep aspect ratio on I think they look good.

Maybe he wants that -nounevenstretch feature or whatever, with no bilinear filtering as well.
Also, some monitor scaling circuitry can be disabled, mostly in NEC LCDs, leaving a 800x600 resolution inside a 1920x1080 monitor, for example. But that's not technically a "window"..
