DU Update: Sega + Anyworks = ?
#282605 - 04/15/12 06:35 AM

We got a system board that appears to be a venture between Sega and Anyworks (guess). I don't know much about Anyworks aside from they have collaborated with Atlus in recent years and dabbled in arcade games. The board appears to be a motherboard. There's an SD card slot that could fit games of several gigs but I'm not sure if it was used for that. The one rom chip on the board is huge (~132 MB). Which would be massive for a bios, so it could be a full game in there, like a medal or puzzle game. We'll find out shortly.

It also has Ethernet, so it could be one of those boards that needs a live host to supply the game data on boot.

some of medal games are Multi station so E-net maybe used to link them.

CaH4e3 determined it's boot/bios code only in the rom dump. So the game is loaded from SD card or elsewhere.

Was the SD card still in the board?

Err, of course not or I would have mentioned it.

FWIW, the Eagle SoC data sheet:

http://uploadpdf.icpdf.com/2012-2-22/PKM32AG-Q_icpdf.pdf

In brief, it contains an unemulated CPU (AE32000C), a crapload of peripherals and a 3D engine.

Thanks for checking. Well a skeleton driver would preserve the data and make me happy if anyone can cook one up. Would appreesh.

Onboard H.264 decoder could spell patent woes.

Depends on whether the games on that hardware actually used it or not.

Seems a SmartMedia slot instead of SD. Could be wrong...

Robbie.

No - definitely SD. Size is wrong for SmartMedia. Also, the Eagle SoC has an onboard SD interface.
