Requirements For Roms Suggestion

A few years ago, I asked about what the System Requirements were for NFL Blitz and MK4 and found out I would have to have a System with a 3.20Ghz or Better Processor with 4 or more GB RAM. If it is possible, in the ROM info, would there be a suggested Requirements in order to run them? I know for most, even a 2.00Ghz/3GB RAM system can run. But for those that depend heavily on Processor and Memory, it could help those who dont yet have the proper system.

Someone (more likely a group of people with a range of computers) could add the info to mameinfo.dat, but it would take a ton of work to do without just using guesswork. I don't see it ever happening.

OK. Just a thought. But a 3.60+Ghz Processor with 6+GB RAM would have no issues for any of them right?

I don't have a 3.6 Ghz to test them with but it's not powerful enough to run every game in mame full speed for sure.

A while ago I wrote a benchmarking program that could benchmark all MAME games and ran it over everything. I ran it on a slow system - Intel Atom 330 - and found that most games can run fine on even this slow system.
The program I wrote, or the results I already acquired, could, in conjunction with a reference system or two, allow suggested minimum hardware to be defined for each game. An automated benchmark process would, I expect, be accurate 95+% of the time. If ever there were inaccuracies, they could be corrected by hand.
1. What I'm getting at is, run an automated program to generate the suggested requirements for all of the games, save that in mameinfo.dat.
2. As individual games are benchmarked more thoroughly by actual people, update mameinfo.dat accordingly.
The benchmark results are a bit old and are at:

I know for a fact that Gauntlet Dark Legacy runs ok during the menus on my PC, and the first stage in the province realm goes about 60% at lowest and full speed at certain points, but MAME seems to suffer from the same issue as most emulators for me. It requires more processing power even when the system didn't have enough. My real Gauntlet DL board slows down quite a bit in heavily crowded areas to I guess around 15% slower than easier moments. MAME slows down too in these areas, but I have a feeling that it would run at a solid speed althroughout with the best hardware man could buy instead of slowing down without MAME's speed dropping too. COuld be wrong but it feels like that's the case.
BTW, Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86GHz, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 64-bit OS and MAME.

Well for right now I am stuck using: Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 2.0Ghz 3GB RAM Win Vista 32 Bit Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset (it says Intel but when I go to the Intel Website, it says it isnt. LOL)
I can run a good amount of games but some of them (NFL Blitz and MK4) skip due to the Processor. By the way, is MVSC2 and the Capcom vs. SNK games supposed to be running slow? It doesnt affect my Processor at all so I am guessing they are still getting processed so that they can work correctly.
I seriously can not wait to get the new Computer I want. Has a 3.60 or they even had one that was 3.8 Ghz. I am guessing with that kind of processing power under Win 7, it could run almost anything you throw at it?

I am told MVSC2 and the Capcom vs. SNK games don't run full speed on any hardware currently. After your upgrade consider giving DEMUL a run and see if those games play.
You currently running an X86 O/S and vista is not helping performance for some of the more demanding games.
If you had an X64 O/S installed (win 7 X64) and used the 64 bit official MAME binary, you would see a big increase in performance for a lot of games.
As far as your new upgrade goes 3.8 Ghz. is very good and make sure you buy Intel and not AMD !!!!!!

Yeah my Ex had a AMD and I did not like it. Not to mention it draws more Power than a Intel or a Nvidia.

Also, tried to go to the MAME Testers page to bring this up, but I couldnt get into it. Seem to be getting something odd. Under MAMEUI32 0.145, MVSC2 and any other system that requires Naomi.c work fine. But under 0.146, it loads up, then after the msgs when it should be running, after about 30 sec, MAMEUI32 locks up and gives a error msg.

Oddly enough, I've found the PS2 emulator PCSX2 is the best way to play the 2d/3d beat em ups from this era on my PC.
Just about every single one got released for the PS2 and apart from the slightly longer load times, they're all arcade perfect.
And I've yet to come across a game that doesn't run perfectly under PS2 emulation, with them pretty much only using the PS2 2d mode, they're far easier to emulate than the 3d games...much less resource hungry too.

Found another issue under MK4. When you run the game, enter the Dip Switch Menu. Can not get the Button Layout Correct. For the X-Arcade Joystick, I try to get this reseult: B1 B2 B3 HP BL HK B4 B5 B6 LP BL LK B7 N/A RN
No matter what I do, when I see what Button will correspond in the game, when I try to set it, it will be different in the game as if it registers differently.

There is no 2D mode, it's just that those games are boring for the PS2's very powerful GPU. All Sony consoles are polygon-only.
