DU Update: 3rd Anniversary

It has now been 3 years since the DU formed, though most members were dumping in groups for years prior. Since forming, the DU has received over 500 donations totalling almost $29,000 and has helped add countless games to MAME.
The 2 games purchased in the last fundraiser were Fun Cube 5 by Namco and Gachaga Champ by Konami. Fun Cube 5 is the final Fun Cube game in the series (2-4 are in MAME) and Gachaga Champ is sort of like a Bishi Bashi game but the cabinet used dual joysticks per player.
BrianT picked up the missing I/O controller board from Rail Chase 2 which contained a rom that was still needed. Any has been dumping through his collection recently, you probably noticed a bunch of new clones he has helped add recently in whatsnews including a previously undumped version of Rastan.
We got a rare bowling game called Bowling Try. It isn't Jamma and I don't know anything about it or what the controls were like yet. We'll see.
Last but certainly not least, gamerfan got us a boardset of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom. The hardware is an alteration of the Wii. It's a shame they didn't release more games to this hardware for arcades such as Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. All the hard work was done already and it was just abandoned. The game appears to be stored in a single flash rom on the back of the motherboard and there is a chip on the front side that contains fonts and other things according to a quick Google search. It will be a while before it's running in MAME but you can find copies for consoles pretty easily. It's a fun game if you're into fighters. The gameplay is similar to Marvel Vs. Capcom 2.

Happy Anniversary ! Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom is 100% playable in Dolphin. (for those who wants to enjoy in this good fighter game) P.S. You mentioned Marvel vs Capcom 3... ...maybe this is irrelevant, but MvsC 3 is not released for Wii Still I am hoping for PC release of (Ultimate) Marvel vs Capcom 3 so the trilogy will be completed on my beloved gaming machine. (MvsC & MvsC 2 are easily playable on PC through the emulation)

Tatsunoko is a japanese anime company who where quite popular in the 70s, they're still making new anime these days.
I remember watching some of them in the 80s translated in french but it's mostly japanese only stuff.
and I guess he hoped that MVSC3 would be released in the arcade on the Wii-arcade based hardware so It would become playable some day via Mame.

I love Tatsunoko vs Capcom, I have it and even bought it "new" for the Wii.
I need to play it some more, I'm not very good playing it.
Congrats on 3 years!

I watched it when it was called Battle of the Planets. I used to love it. Of course it was probably horrible... like so many of the shows I adored in my youth. =)
In Japan it was originally called Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. Supposedly the Japanese version is quite good... for 1972.

Since we're on Tatsunoko, is Yatterman [the series] any good?

For some reason. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DK5Ap_BC1f8 This remind me of Jessie and James from Pokemon.

and surprisingly enough, Tatsunoko was also responsible for bringing "religious anime" such as Flying House and Superbook. But i do remember seeing G-Force too. As for this game being dumped, it's nice to see it in action, and i hope that it pops up on Mame soon.

Dullaron,
Team Rocket from Pokemon is actually a homage and parody of Doronjo, Boyacki (green one), and Tonzura (blue one) from Yatterman.
Yatterman was the first anime to have a Terrible Trio, where the leader is a control freak and the two minions are useless idiots.
If you want a comparison as far as personalities and mannerisms go, it's basically like this:
Doronjo = Jessie, Meowth = Boyacki, and James = Tonzura.
---
Also, for any fans of G-Force, its original unedited series, known as Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, is much better. It has 3 TV series, only 1 of which was released uncut in the US by ADV Films.

No need to find this on the internet. Be better on MAME. Sick of hacks.

Yes, I loved it but have avoided re-watching it.

Some people think it's better, but it is quite different. To create battle of the planets they took the animation, cut it up & added some new bits and then recorded new scripts.
It's quite different. All the battles in SNTG were on earth, while BOP went to different planets.
The 1986 version "G-Force: Guardians of Space" is more like SNTG, but like BOP not all episodes were used.
The 2005 version by ADV Films English Dub is the closest English version.

Hi all,
What no-one yet has asked, and so I will, what is the future of the DU after Smitdogg falling foul of the Inland Revenue?
Will it continue with us able to send donations to a different, still to be announced, recipient?
