A question to those in power

After reading the post on the area51 chd and replies by smittdog and
others I have a question. not tryin to cause controversy just asking...
Some yrs ago I remember a site or 2 that used to post beta and non
emulated roms. I had several clones up and working and added to mame
back then that I had downloaded from the site and just curious why
that was stopped? I see and understand why some games fall thru the
cracks and not complaining just thought if this was allowed again the
average geek like myself could play with the roms and maybe get the
driver information coded to add them to mame. I understand that the
dev's work hard and that many are working on things like protection,
newer devices etc and that clones and simplier games dont' hold their
interest so i thought maybe if some of the roms were availible that
the "general geek user" could help out alittle and maybe help the
back log to shrink some.
I enjoyed playing with them and it was cool seeing my additions added
to mame. infact that is how I found some of the missing dipswitches in
golden tee games and had them added.... as a single dad raising 3 kids I
dont have the time to get real serious with the drivers but i do enjoy
playing with the simplier stuff when I can find alittle time for myself.

It hasn't really stopped exactly. The same torrent site that everyone gets their roms from has like 40 gigs of unmamed arcade dumps available. As for "beta", that was guru-choc I think doing that so it's gone when he quit. The reason nobody else does it is probably because it's just more work. I'm sure it's more than enough trouble already to get a new torrent out for every u release. f205v's site has it sort of though but not put into packs.

thank you, I don't have f205v site link and I have looked but Im sure Im doing
something wrong. Lol... Could you kindly post or pm me his site ? i will check
around for the other site you mentioned. since you don't post rom sites I wont ask
for its link so thank you smittdogg for your answers. I will check into this and
see if I can start playing around again when I find time!
