Cocktail mode not working properly

Got a wierd problem with a mame setup, sadly it's at a friends house now, so I don't have direct access.
Basically when he plays a game and enables cocktail mode so that the screen flips, when the screen flips for 2 players turn, the display is kind of missed up.
The display starts from the middle of the screen, goes down to the bottom then wraps around from the top (wish I had a picture handy)
I sent him a link to the latest version of mame, not sure if he has installed it correctly but it seems to have made no difference.
Any suggestions on to fix this?

It would help immensely to know WHICH game (or games) are having this problem. Such an issue would not be a global one.

Burgertime and clones should display properly in MAME 0.145 and later as the regression was fixed which was in effect 0.141u3 through 0.144u7.
