It is a cannon - it has multiple performers playing the same melody offset by four bars. That's a cannon by definition.

cannon -- A cannon is any piece of artillery that uses gunpowder or other usually explosive-based propellents to launch a projectile.
canon -- In music, a canon is a contrapuntal composition that employs a melody with one or more imitations of the melody played after a given duration (e.g., quarter rest, one measure, etc.). The initial melody is called the leader (or dux), while the imitative melody, which is played in a different voice, is called the follower (or comes). The follower must imitate the leader, either as an exact replication of its rhythms and intervals or some transformation thereof.

There's another one, having to do with the continuity in a storyline.

That isn't the exact sense; it's actually the same "canon" that describes the accepted body of biblical works, which I'll herein discuss no further.

They're being rather silly by separating 4 and 5 there. I fact, with most of those. 1, 2, and 3. 7 as well is just a specific part of a larger thing. I can't say for 6, but it could be any of the others.
In fact, if they can't see that canon2 1&2 are exactly the same thing, they need to not be dictionarying.

Bottom line is, a canon is a contrapuntal form.....

You're an idiot - Pachelbel's canon in D major is a canon whether you like it or not. This is even worse than when you started carrying on about analog vs digital drum synths.

It's also a musical instrument found at AC/DC concerts. ;-)
