That's completely not the same thing. He's not asking her to do some complex math problem, he's basically asking her if she understands what words mean. And she doesn't, even after he explains it to her repeatedly. I'm not saying your spouse has to be your intellectual equal in all possible ways, but I personally couldn't stand someone I couldn't have an intelligent conversation with for very long.
