I don't know what the deal is with it. It always works when I grab code and post it but half the videos other people post don't show up for me under Firefox. Very annoying.

If I pull a URL from the web, and paste it in the window, it comes out as a hyperlink. There is a "flash" item on the buttons, but it didn't do much.

Oh you don't know how it's supposed to be done, yes that is a different issue. A url is supposed to do as you described. You need to look for actual embed code to paste. On YT you click share then embed then it highlights the code for you. You paste that into a post. See the embed button and highlighted code in the pic.

There are two ways they offer to embed it. One using "iframes", the default. There should also be an option to switch tot he "old" object embed code.
