Need help with Connector identification
#277553 - 02/27/12 11:19 PM

I'm cleaning up/restoring a New Astro City cabinet that is in great shape, just a little dirty. I'm trying to connect the sound from my PC into the speakers on the cabinet I have. I don't want to wire to the JPAC sound because it would limit it to Mono, and I want stereo when available. I also want to leave my cab able to use my arcade PCBs. I was thinking the easiest way to switch between the two sound sources would be to just run the cables from my pc sound into the same type of connector, where my speakers plug in to the JAMMA harness cables. I think this is some type of molex connector, and I've found similar, but I'd like to find this exact connector so that I can use the same male end with two different female connectors. Anyone know what this is?

No idea and good luck hunting for 30 years old weird molex connectors. If I was doing what you're doing, I would buy new ones and change the female connector as well.

Yeah, I am considering it. Didn't know if it may be something easy to find. Doubt its 30 years old though, this cab and the JAMMA standard haven't been around that long. Maybe 10-15 at least though.

Sorry, I didn't read your post properly, I just read "Astro" and assumed it was some really old pre-jamma game!

If it's an Astro City cab then parts should be easy to find. I know there's at least one regular here who has Astro City/Candy cabs at home, hopefully he'll see this topic.

Try googling Candy Cab parts or Sega Astro City parts, I'm sure there's some online store out there with parts in stock.

Hi d00d,

If you haven't already done so, you might want to check out http://arcadeotaku.com

I got rid of all of my NAC extras when I sold my last one last year - only Aero City cabs here now. Oh and an Aero Table as of last Sunday

HTH

Cheers,

Ralph.

I forget what it's called but they are dead common on Sega cabs. Try AndyGeezerServices, he should have a ton of them.
