When I was a kid:
"I want that card. I must spend every bit of extra money that I can scrub up until I find it. Hopefully I don't end up buying an entire box. Maybe someone at school is collecting them too and he'll have an extra and we can trade. If not maybe I can get someone interested so they'll start buying them too and THEN we can trade..."

Tell me about it. My kid bought something from someone located in Lithuania on eBay today. I couldnt imagine anything like that was possible back when I was growing up.
