Note to everybody hosted @ MW
#276025 - 02/14/12 04:23 PM

Due to a situation beyond our control, if you run your hosted site here on WordPress, if it's not updated soon to their latest software (like within the next 24 hours) your site will most likely be deleted until you contact me ready for updating it. I'm not contacting everybody individually about it.

Mine's been running the latest WP 3.3.1 since the day it was released.

Yeah yours wasn't in the report. I sent out some emails, I think the only person left is agemame, I'll post on that board. Then there are a couple of entries that I don't know what the hell they go to.

Do visitors need to be concerned?

They sent an email saying that of all the hacker issues they have with the websites they host (thousands I guess) the #1 security issue by far is people running outdated WordPress installations and hackers taking advantage of them. And they sent us a list of detected outdated installations and a threat that they would suspend our account if they aren't updated or deleted. I requested they run the check again tomorrow and send us the report but I don't know if they replied yet (to Roc).

No.

They ain't wrong about that. After having my two separate WP sites hacked on two separate occasions I ripped that shit out and vowed never to use it again. Holier than the pope.

Well, that should fix it - I've done some updates and locked everything else down.

This is probably going to finally persuade me to switch from Wordpress to something better, or at least not as insecure.

EDIT: While WP is updated to keep them happy, there's another blogging platform being lined up to switch over to, which seems to be a sensible option.

This looks to be all fixed now. I recommend setting your WordPress to do an auto-update if you see the option in the settings.
