Is Backspin Possible In Golden Tee Series Games (Pre 2001)?
#273902 - 01/24/12 08:16 AM

Is Backspin possible in the Golden Tee series games (Pre 2001)? I am talking about the games in that series up til Golden Tee Classic. Meaning the games in the series from 2001 and before. I know you can give the ball backspin in the games made after Golden Tee Classic (After 2001.) But the games in that series before that, is it possible? I couldn't figure out how to do it and I tried looking online and couldn't find out how. If it is possible to put backspin on the ball, how do you do it?

that doesn't appear to work. I thought that if I spin the trackball once the ball lands, that it would spin in that direction but that doesn't appear to have any effect.

GT2K and prior were not equipped with such a feature. Not going to happen no matter how hard you spin the ball.

"Pop" the iron shots for backspin; softer shots tend to roll forward. [nt] new [Re: OldSchoolGamer]

what do you mean by "Pop"? Does it mean to roll the trackball really fast?

I think he means get under the ball and pop it up high in the air and it should backspin.

how do you get under the ball in that game. You use a trackball for the swing. In what way of spinning the trackball would cause you to get under the ball? In most other golf games, you have to ability to choose to hit the bottom of the ball to give backspin. But in this game, there is no ability to choose where on the ball to hit.

Since we are on the subject of GT. I was just curious if there are any plans in the near future of dumping anymore recent versions? Just asking.

You don't exactly make those kinds of plans. People dump what they have access/permission to hardware.

Most likely already dumped. Any newer GT platforms are still money takers in the real world, don't plan on them for quite a while. The newest platforms are PC based anyway, nothing to emulate until mame gets a P4 core....

I'ts kind of suprising that they didn't include that feature in the game. Even old NES golf games had that ability. And it would have been easy for them to implement that feature... all they had to do is after you swing and hit the ball, once the ball lands, you could roll the trackball in whatever direction you want the ball to roll. I remember this method used in some other arcade golf game... I just don't remember the name of the game.
