The whole "snarky review of bad games" thing has kind of been done, but I have to admit this was pretty funny. I LOLed a few times.

The problem with this is that Growl is actually awesome. In what other game can you play as a crocodile dundee look alike and whip 10 dudes at the same time? Not to mention the awesomeness of the 2nd boss...
Taito Employee 1: "Hey, any ideas for the second boss?"
Taito Employee 2: "I dunno, lets just make the player battle about 15 fat dudes"
Anyway, if you want to see actual shithouse arcade games play something like Battlecry, Blood Storm, or Arabian Fight.

They're pretty great. Predates AVSP by a few years, and it look as good. Doesn't look like a bad beat'em up, actually. I was surprised there was no recognition/comparison with the black dude and the boulders to....of course.....DOUBLE DRAGON.

Sure was. If you're going to pick a game to rank on, you could do far worse than Growl. I loved this game in the arcade and I recall it doing quite well against other games of the era, at least at the places I saw it.
Perhaps if the reviewer practiced a bit more and didn't continue so much, he'd have a different opinion.
On a positive note, it's nice to see someone reviewing forgotten games like this, especially with decent presentation style.

thanks for the comments. AVGN has never done an arcade review (though he did bring up a weird baseball beat em up) and I stared to say "NO.. dont do it". So im hoping this niche will help get people interested.
Again, if you can think of some really bad games, lmk. Would like to show people what they havnt seen before. Not all reviews are going to be negative.. but probably geared towards that.
Also im going to go to arcades in las vegas (where im from) and review the arcade rooms.. vegas has gone down hill in the arcade dept and its kind of sad. 8x8ft rooms jammed with 10 year old crap.

I dunno, the format wasn't too bad. The forced salty language got a bit tiresome by the end, though. And speaking of ends, there's another series on that site that looks promising:

Heh, that's a pretty narrow distinction. I mean, games are games at the end of the day. I don't really see the problem with it, though, as long as it's entertaining. There's nothing new under the sun anyway.

At least you guys have the Pinball Hall of Fame. That makes up for at least a dozen crappy arcades.

Yeah Growl is pretty good I think, there is much worse beat em up....
Arabian Fight.... now that's unplayable, can't believe it was made by Sega.
