Well they (the security personnel) handled that well
Having occasionally worked as a security person as a student, I can confirm that many people in the business are poorly educated and clueless.
Since moving to London, I've taken thousands of photos and hundreds of video clips of everything, including train stations and other infrastructure, and never been stopped or questioned by anyone. I have seen a few instances on YouTube where Police officers or railway staff falsely accuse people of breaking a law by taking photos or video, sometimes citing anti-terror legislation, or of causing a breach of the peace. So far, that's not happened to me. Will try and have the presence of mind to keep the camera recording if a conversation like that starts. Rather more threatening have been similar videos I've seen from the US. I'd love to explore the USA by rail and take photos and videos of the experience, but have a feeling I'd be constantly getting tasered by cops.

Its more like a few isolated incidents that have been blown out of proportion. If you're doing anything even remotely touristy, the chances of anyone giving you grief are remote in the extreme. I see tourists snapping pics of the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston all the time. I think there actually *are* laws about photographing that particular building and I've never once seen anyone get hassled for it.
It would be a great joke if 2 people turned up with cameras the next day, and then 4, and then 8 .... the more the complained, the more people with cameras.
