Unknown coin-operated game © -350 Unknown.

An antique columnist said that a man presented, at the court of Alexander the Great (356 to 323 B.C.), a game that functioned as follows : By introducing a coin, players was able to up and down some balls who disappear in several different holes which can be opened or closed by the players. If players have chance, they earned the double of the bet.

This represents the oldest evidence of a coin-operated game.

400 years later, around 50 A.D, Heron of Alexandria invented the "Holy Water Vending Machine".

WTF ?

When a coin was introduced via a slot on the top of the machine, a set amount of Holy Water was dispensed.

So? Maybe it was important then.

If you're Christian, it could still be important now.

I can just see these (dark) middle ages guys dressed in rags, lining up to put their coins in this thing. Now a few coins to make Jesus do a dance ... I'd pay for that !

Sounds like something found on PawnStars.

I’m convinced Mario is a hobo.
He wakes up everyday in the same clothes, runs around in sewers, and collects coins for a living.
At the end of the day, he uses the coins to buy mushrooms
