Comparison help

Hey guys. Gonna upgrade my PC board soon and while I believe I'm asking a glaring obvious question, I just wanna check that this CPU will be better and faster over my current one.
I did a compare here: http://ark.intel.com/compare/27462,27248
So despite the fact the C2D is slightly above half the speed of my current one, will it be noticably faster?

You will see a good drop in temps (especially idle temp) and a tiny boost in performance. I know because I did a very similar "upgrade" recently.
Consider the Pentium E6700 (not the older Core 2 Duo E6700) if you want a cheap and fast CPU for your Socket 775 board. Raw performance should be about three times that of your your P4. The E6700 is available on Amazon for ~85 dollars.

I already spent near £50 on this mobo and I don't wanna buy a new CPU. I asked because I had this C2D laying about spare. I would've used it but this intel board doesn't like multi-core.
This is only another temporry upgrade till I have enough funds for an i5 anyway. I can't wait either, seeing most of my games run fine on a Dual-Core HT i3, surely Quad i5 will run most games near perfect.
