What can I add to make my arcade better
#270420 - 12/07/11 06:17 PM

I made this over the summer
http://s1129.photobucket.com/albums/m511/sdweim85/?action=view&current=IMG_1033.jpg&newest=1

It just feels bland to me now. What could I add to make it look and feel more exciting. Maybe a different color T-molding? Side-art? Paint it a different color?

I think you've already figured it out. Black black and more black gets monotonous. You can change out that bezel for something else and put the instruction cards at the bottom of the control panel where there's open space. Some people turn to colorful t-molding, but I prefer to paint the cabinet blue, red, light grey, something different.

Color matching the control panel grey might be the way to go. Grab a cardboard bezel (or make one) similar to the control panel grey. The sides could be a light blue matched to the instruction card background color. If it's gonna take up real estate in your home, might as well make it look good.

Yea agreed. I think I might just paint the sides blue, with 1 or 2 black stripes going through it. Then get some red T-molding. And I'll leave the front black. Blue, black, and red.

I like the stripes on the Universal cabs:

Maybe this stencil could be adapted to your tastes:

That's actually an actual CAPCOM control panel overlay. My cabinet had a GigaWing kit in it with an overlay almost exactly like that. CAPCOM is factory printed on it.

That's way too harsh. Cold. It's not nearly as bad as the marble. It looks dated and it didn't age well/not exactly timeless but comparing to marble is just cruel.

The diamond plate is way worse. And on that note:

I think I remember seeing that back then - and thought it was god-awful.
