Midnight Resistance frustrating controls

You know how in some games you control the movement by a trackball, but there is also a clone of the game that has a joystick movement. My question is that for games that have duel analogs (one controls the sprite's walking, the other controls his aim for shooting), is it possible to change that setup to just a one regular joystick setup. My problem I'm having is with the game "Midnight Resistance". It's really difficult and annoying to control the aiming as a separtate analog, so is there a way to make that game's control setup normal (with one analog)?

Midnight Resistance had rotary joysticks. You push the stick in a direction to move and rotate it to aim. As far as I know, there isn't really a good way to emulate this without a rotary stick. Your best bet is probably to map two buttons to Analog Inc and Analog Dec, so you can use them to rotate forward and backward, and fire with a third button. It's far from perfect, but it's playable with some practice.

A regular joystick clone of a rotary stick game has been altered in the game code (and probably hardware?) itself. There is nothing the in scope of MAME that you can do to get this behavior in a game that does not already have it.

Play Midnight Resistance on Amiga/emulator - it's a good conversion, even better than original and controls are common : joystick + 1 fire button.(You can map a second fire button as jump, easily in WinUAE)
