What kind of truck, and what is wrong with it? It seems like for $2200+, you could swap in an entire rebuilt motor. You're not going to the stealership are you?
I’m convinced Mario is a hobo.
He wakes up everyday in the same clothes, runs around in sewers, and collects coins for a living.
At the end of the day, he uses the coins to buy mushrooms

No. It's a '98 Dakota with a 6, and a local shop that had been recommended. Supposedly head gasket, plus something wrong with the trans (the reason I had to shop it).

I agree with Dmala, time to cut your losses and replace it. The repair likely exceeds the value of the truck. Did a quick search on it, and Edmunds came up with this.

Bummer, transmissions get expensive real fast. A double whammy with the head gasket might be fatal, unless you're really attached to it.
Maybe look into some barebones cheap transportation for now? Like an old Honda or Toyota with a stick and a ton of miles. A friend of mine scored a mid 90s Tercel for free a while back. It had like 250k on the clock, the red paint had faded to a flat pink, and it had psychedelic flower seat covers, but the damned thing ran like a top. I borrowed it one day and took it from Boston to Providence and back without so much as a hiccup.
It's October 27th and it's snowing outside my house as I type this. And not just wet flakes that disappear instantly, either. The grass is white and I'd have to brush my car off to go anywhere. I can't deal with this.

Same here. It's not even Halloween yet, and there's about 8" of snow outside and another 5-6" expected to come down. All this while I found out yesterday that I have a broken ankle and am on crutches. If I lose power, I am completely screwed. Just hoping that the hurricane which moved through here in August knocked out the trees that could potentially fall on the power lines. I still can't believe what I'm seeing.
Watching the news right now, and the weather guy is saying that this storm was actually Hurricane Rita down in Mexico, and when it moved up north it pulled in very cold air from Canada and turned into a Nor-Easter of epic proportions.

Nasty for a first snowfall. Lost power from early afternoon to 10:30. Now I've spent the whole day sleeping, having no light and no car. I was just changing my desktop to pure white to use the laptop as a light, and it came back on.

I can't even believe the snow I was griping about in my first post was just a prelude. It looks like mid-January outside my house right now. No power problems so far, but looking at the radar, we're not out of the woods yet.
Three weeks ago, it was 80 and I was riding my bike in shorts and a t-shirt. Unbelievable.
