Did rom size increase considerably between 143 and 143u7
#266248 - 10/13/11 04:00 PM

Hi,

Using clrmamepro it shows a 143 (no chds) at 93gb, but a 143u7 (no chds) at 136gb. Is this right, a 43gb increase in rom size between 143 and 143u7???

Thanks,

Alan

Cave games play really well now. I also was impressed how well Ehrgeiz & Die hard Arcade play now, as both were way slow many months ago the last time I remember launching them.

Some Naomi games boot now past the Naomi screen.

Am I getting close? If not, then hints please

Wow, that is quite an increase. Did a bunch of new stuff get dumped?

Thanks,

That's happened for a long time

You mentioned the correct manufacturer, but I don't think you meant the specific games I'm talking about. Also, you're in the shout box, so you aren't eligible to guess ;-)

Would it be some of the LD games?

I thought those drivers were pretty complete and waiting on archiving the footage, plus the jump in file size is big enough to represent a couple of those. If the LD games were it, it would make sense they weren't mentioned in "What's new" since those drivers had their promotion state years ago didn't they?

I'm pretty sure Sega distributed a few.

Am I right?

holy shit, as a big cave fan..... I just tried and found that Ibara and Espgaluda 2 works perfectly in this version!! except sound sadly but with no frameskip I'm getting 90% so it's pretty good.

well sound has been emulated in demul so it should come to mame sometimes.......! I hope.

playing Ibara without the *BOMBAAAA* sound is not the same

It's just a shame they will likely stay silent for a long time.

There is no story with that yet, and anyone claiming there is is lying.

That said, if sound were added it would likely at least triple the CPU requirements for the games, so if you aren't running 300% unthrottled, be happy they're silent.

So if it turns out it uses mpeg compression in the Yamaha codec mamedev will be fine with that? Because I hear the chances are high.

No such determination has been made at this time. We have an expert at digital signal processing examining the samples now, and his word is law. Until then, speculation is useless.
