Most 'news' out there is not really news it is selling an agenda. Even 'the young turks' are selling something. That something may not even be a physical product. It usually is just simple propaganda.
I consider myself a republican. However, fox news is a farce tabloid news organization. Unfortunatly fox news has co-opted the banner of republican to sell air time and advertisements and whatever agenda they want to sell. They took the CNN formula and amped it up for 'republicans'. It started off with good intentions (believe it or not it was actually decent at first). But as it has gone along it has become just a soapbox for whatever crazy idea they can come up with and put it under the 'republican' brand. And make no mistake republican/democrat is nothing more than a brand and a market segment to these people.
Frankly it pisses me off.
Democrats have in many ways taken the tact of the same method but put it under the 'comedy' brand of the Colbert report, the daily show, and the young turks. Which are amusing dont get me wrong. But they are little more than to me thinly veiled ad-hominem attacks. Which to a good segment of the viewing audience they like (as the republicans are the bad guys, and your not as ridiculous as they are, are you?).
But make no mistake about what these things are, they are *NOT* news. They are entertainment and product placement is everywhere. But many people confuse it for real news. It is like taking those tabloid rags you see at the grocery story as real news. Every once and awhile these news-entrainment channels actually do real news. But no one takes them seriously as they tarnish what they are by being so gaudy. Notice on all of those stations what is in the prime time slots, talking heads, spouting opinions.
We are the product. We are what is sold to advertisers. Who in turn want to sell us something by using cognitive bias. This has been going on for years. They have it down to a finely honed art.

All forms of media are biased, but in the case of Fox News at least Rubert Murdoch has gone on record and said he is going to use Fox as a bully pulpet to further his agenda. Shows like the one I posted explain to the average person how they are being bamboozled and hopefully some lurker out there will learn something from it.

That's why every company in the world hires them. That's why the prettiest girl in a company is often the receptionist. It's not that smart to come out and say flat out it's why you hired someone, but it happens everywhere in the US. Being hot gives you an advantage and being old or fat or ugly gives you a disadvantage in the job market, whatever job, whatever sex.

The problem with even the ones who 'point it out' forget they are doing it themselves... Notice that particular youtube channel is usually attacking in some form republicans. He just wanted to make a piece that made fun of fox news is all (which isnt even that hard to do). That particular channel uses the 'your not stupid are you?' sales pitch. There are much better pieces out there that demonstrate the effect of adverts disguised as news. In this case fox is using attractive women to put a pretty picture on the screen (most of the news orgs out there do this).
For some reason a few years ago it flicked on like a switch for me. I can usually smell a sales pitch. That is what all these guys are doing. Selling me something (usually their opinion). They are using 'news' and 'sarcasm' as the vehicle to do so.
Like I said we are the product being sold a product(s). Much of what is going on those channels is the same techniques that used car salesmen use to get you to buy a car. They use them because they work.
Many of these sorts of shows use shaming which is just a form of manipulation to affect the outcome they want. I find it repulsive and shady.

There was one female Fox news reporter. Greta Van Susteran. Not really that pretty. But then again I think she was more left leaning. ....And that reminds me of something else I've heard about Fox News. Take Hannity and Colmes (it's been a long while since I've watched that, so I don't know (care) if it's changed since then). Hannity was the handsome one. Colmes looked like a dogs old chew toy.

I have never checked out the other video's on that youtube channel nor do I really care. At the end of the day that guy is trying to get ratings just like every other talking head out there and make money. Being a talking head is certainly an easier way of making money (and pays better and less chance of bodily injury) than other jobs out there.
