Yes. The only thing fixed is that RR2 runs now. No changes have been made to the graphics emulation.

Ridge Racer 1 is on the same hardware and has worked for ages. Why the shock?

Though you might have good intentions, I don't think posting a binary which included non-mamedev sources is NOT a good idea. The "hi patch" is typically packaged with another unsavory "no nag" patch. Posting such binaries is greatly discouraged by MAMEDEV.

I hope you realize that statement works in both ways too. :P If I recall correctly all we had seen from Ridge Racer 2 running on MAME were a pair of WIP screenshots with a red error message legend during the Viva Nonno and MAME WIP page days (2002-2003). Of course it's a shock for us common users with no knowledge about the reasons it took so long to see this achieved till today.

Not trying to be ungrateful here. Reading this as working after so many years brings a big surprise considering you could only play it on an abandoned emulator. I haven't yet tried if Viva Nonno still works under Windows Vista/7.

For nostalgia purposes:

"the reasons it took so long" are basically "Stroff typo'd". It's a sufficiently trivial fix hap didn't want credit (but I'm giving it to him now)

Heh. I first thought I was imagining this after seeing this in a recent source update from a few days earlier. Good to know it now starts up.

> i never understood why konami(but not only konami)made these unique hardwares only for one game

- Only sold game + cabinet with 50-inch projector or 29-inch so that this was very high price
- JVS but power is irregular so that cabinet requires extra power supply. So it doesn't work on other maker's JVS or even normal Konami's "Windy2" cabinet as it stands
- Monitor is very tight because frequency to display is subtly different
- HDD is weak against a shock like ancient LD game
- Serious problem is that the game itself is unamused (than Virtua Fighter or Tekken series in those days)

Cobra (Konami) and Wolf (Taito) are released as competitive with Model 3 (Sega) but as it happens only released few (one or two) titles.
