video encoding

tried h.264 but a 40ish minute video was over 2GB! This was at 800x480 resolution (optimum for my Galaxy S II)
Any pointers? Using .MP4 format it's 700ish MB

You need to use a program that lets you set the bitrate for the video and audio. Then it's whatever size you want.

I'm using a program that lets me choose bitrates (limited choices, depending on format and such, but there are choices) but it doesn't show an estimate of file size IDK much about bitrates and quality
Aha!!! The name of the program is what was making my post 'not permitted' the other day
