Go fuck yerself.
See that bit of grass in an arc between the lower points, right at the front door?
That's what's left of the outline of the previous structure there, a double helix oak/spruce tree that reached up to sky limit.
A griefing axepole from Pennsylvania using the name FutileFreedom (IP 67.163.189.170) came in uninvited and dropped lava on both it and the tree farm (off to the right of that pic) that supplied it.
I wouldn't be surprised if his hacking about was also the cause of our several crashes and the loss of our biomes (note the lack of new snow and the very green grass).
This is what he left, after I doused the lava:

It was days of chopping wood and shearing leaves, much work on the layout, and more days of building, thanks. > > That's what's left of the outline of the previous structure there, a double helix > oak/spruce tree that reached up to sky limit. > > Sounds like Hometree in Avatar...
Wouldn't know. I actually hadn't even finished, as it was still straight down at the base, rather than spreading a bit. Was also looking to add branches....

It's more like playing with an infinite bucket of Legos. There's no real point to anything you do, but the planning and execution can be fun, and the results can be impressive (although my projects tend to be pedestrian and boring, relatively speaking).

I get that, but the final product seems to be people posting pics and videos saying 'Hey, look at what I done, ain't it cool?'

I suppose so, but that's the basic premise of Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, G+ - about 80% of the Internet, really. What's the point of making something if not to show it off to people?

I didn't make that. Hell, I didn't even take the photo. ![](//www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif)
That post was absolutely nothing more than a "please satiate my curiosity with your combined knowledge!" info beg.

If you know how to mess with bukkit and other modding schemes, you can get rid of 90%+ of griefing by auto-kicking anyone from the server who does not pass the test on http://www.minecraft.net/haspaid.jsp?user=troll replace troll with username used on login if it returns false, kickban from server, preferably by IP rather than username. Alternatively, use a bukkit plugin which stores transaction logs by player and allows modification reverts and chunk reverts. Also be sure to import the banned registered userlists from that mcgreifing-tracker or whatever project, to avoid known griefers who actually DO have real accounts.

The server is Gat's, not mine, so using or not using bukkit is up to him.
He isn't MCBanned. He is an actual MC account, and a person named Joe Saltsman in Pennsylvania.

I'll need coordinates to re-orient and lock on the orbiting brain lasers.

If you get the chance I'd highly recommend a visit. I went loads of times as a kid then it was off to Portrush and Barry's - the best arcade ever!
The coast road from Larne all the way round to Portrush is beautiful and has a load of sites of interest on the way - makes for a great day out.
There is also mention of the Giant's Causeway in the legend of Fin MacCool but that's another, much longer, story.
Cheers,
Ralph.
