Hi all. Im interested in getting into hacking games - same way I/we used to do as kids on our ZX spectrums ![](//www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif)
I have mame debug but it doesnt give me what I need - contents of registers, ability to step through program, some way to change code values while a game is being run (but paused)
That sort of stuff.
Is there a walkthrough or instruction manual anywhere?
Thanks very much for your help.

The debugger hasn't been a separate build of MAME for a long time. You enter the debugger by launching MAME with the command line switch -d. Type help at the debugger console for a list of commands. Have fun!

Run MAME with -debug and you will get all of those capabilities and more.
