Never seen this in any arcades in NJ. Any good?

I’m convinced Mario is a hobo.
He wakes up everyday in the same clothes, runs around in sewers, and collects coins for a living.
At the end of the day, he uses the coins to buy mushrooms

It's good for a beat-em-up. I'm not really into the genre anymore. I definitely would rather them had made it a platformer as originally planned.

Coincidence. I usually like the angry N nerd but did he have to downgrade us to "an emulator"? He can't just say MAME?

He would've probably said "Maam" or "Meme" or some shit.

I get the impression that James Rolfe is a bit of a purist and snob. He's also seems to be remarkably clueless about computers and technology for someone who makes movies and collects classic game hardware. There was a video of him and "Motherfucker Mike" trying to get a C64 working recently that was causing me physical pain, they were so clueless.

Same impression here - I think he's a hipster who plays old games for retro cred rather than someone who actually enjoys them like most of us. Not a fan.

I just played it in MAME. As far as beatemups go, it was pretty easy; it only took me a virtual $4 to beat it unlike say Battletoads which took like $30.

I met the AVGN briefly at a convention. Gut reaction: kinda wanted to punch him in the face.

I find that a little surprising. I've never met him, but in the footage I've seen of him at cons and whatever, he seems reasonably down to earth. I always found it interesting that he's actually *less* nerdy when he's in character as the AVGN.

Purely physical, I assure you.
Just like this guy.
As for the AVGN, he's probably a nice guy...

Audio problems still there in 0.143u5, everything goes quiet as soon as you begin level 1. Does that mean it could be something simple?

Not true, theres a couple of videos on his site from when he actually started doing videogame reviews in the 80s while he was playing his NES.
The comments he made as a kid are the same as the avgn reviews, like Castlevania for exemple.
He's a console guy, not a pc gamer at all.

Re ~ about the games audio.
Thankyou for fixing the problem of the audio stopping at the start of level 1 with Mame 0.143u7. I remember the fun I use to have in the arcades with this game now, I appreciate it.
PS: Can't quite remember whether there is suppose to be music in 'attract/demo mode' or not??

Yes, it is very good. It's one of my favorite beatem up arcade games. It also has good graphics.
