California Extreme 2011
#258702 - 06/29/11 06:56 PM

http://www.caextreme.org/games2011

Year 14!
With over 400 titles and growing.

I will be bringing:
Star Fire II Cockpit
Missile Command,
Space Invaders (multikit)
Ms. Pacman,
Zaxxon
+1 for Renegade which I'll be cleaning up at the show.

Missile Command and Zaxxon have new CRT monitors!
Zaxxon has a completely rebuilt control panel and powder coated flight stick.

This year I am partnered with 5 other collectors totaling 30 games for the show.

Who's coming?

I'd love to, but I had too many unexpected expenses involved with a recent move so I'm going to have to miss it for the first time in several years. I'll be there in 2012 unless the Mayans destroy the Earth first though ;-)

the end of the world should be in Dec 2012, so there should be time for a last CAX

I always thought you were rich.

I'm happy to chip in $100 US so that RB can attend.

Anyone else want to join chip in for RB ?

Is it serious to imagine someone [from mameteam?] ask or enter in relation with [someone from?] CAX or games owners to let make dumps of what's still not added to mame ?

Or at least see if a language rom of Midway Checkmate is available for dumping.

Checkmate (cocktail)

--
ROM_START( checkmat )
ROM_LOAD( "checkmat.d", 0x1000, 0x0400, NO_DUMP ) /* language ROM */
--

Games that could use verifying such as Boot Hill according to Derrick Renaud's notes.

Boot Hill http://mamedev.org/source/src/mame/audio/mw8080bw.c.html

--
Discrete sound emulation: Jan 2007, D.R.
/* The schematics show the Hit sounds as shown.
* This makes the death of the enemy sound on the players side.
* This should be verified. */
--

And also see if this game has an actual bezel.

Gun Smoke

My reccomendations for those attending this year's show and trying out 1970s era video games.

Allied's Futsball http://flyers.arcade-museum.com/?page=thumbs&db=videodb&id=2447
Death Race
US Billiards Shark http://flyers.arcade-museum.com/?page=thumbs&db=videodb&id=1611
Six-Pac
Stunt Cycle
TV Basketball

Exidy TV Pinball http://flyers.arcade-museum.com/?page=thumbs&db=videodb&id=2518

TV Pinball has similar gameplay to TV Pin Game http://flyers.arcade-museum.com/?page=thumbs&db=videodb&id=1255

And also try playing and comparing Atari Tank versus Fun Games' Tankers. iirc Tank has better game control compared to Tankers. That's what I sort of recall when playing both games back in 1970s.

MAMEdev has dumped several games at CAX shows in the past, with the permission of the owners. That won't be happening this year however

Me and my kids. I'll be the dad who is frantically trying to keep track of a 3 and 4 year old while playing Assault.

Speaking of which, is Assault really going to be there this year? It's my favorite of all time and last year it was listed but wasn't actually there which was a big disappointment for me ...

Oh dear, no takers huh ?

What a *@6#%$% ungrateful bunch of #$%!@ !!

RB, let me know if you still want to go, the best way to get you the money, and I will forward $500 to help cover your expenses.

LOL. On the off-chance this isn't a joke, thanks but no thanks.

It's definitely no joke.

It's the least I can do to say thanks for all the work you've put into MAME. Same applies as well to other MAMEDevs.

To answer my own question, NO, Assault was not there, AGAIN, despite being on the game list this year. That's two years in a row that it's been listed and not been there. Who is the assjack who is saying that they'll bring Assault every year and not coming through? Or is it just that the CA Extreme organizers just list every game that has ever been at a CA Extreme instead of the games that someone has said that they'll bring this year?
