You will be amazed at the high quality porn you can now view. I suggest www.orgasm.com for free porn videos, and www.al4a.com/links for random free porn sites.

While I'm happy beyond words you moved out of 1992, that speed still makes me cringe.
I'm aiming a goddamned yagi at Canada and mailing you a 4000dbi reciever. You can leech from me.

I'm still happy my ISP hasn't put a retardedly low cap on my internet usage yet. (Oh shit. I shouldn't have used the word "retardedly". Per the commercial out there with Sarah Palin and her retarded child, the word "retarded" is just as nasty as gook, chink, kike, spic, and nigger. I guess I'll burn in hell.

I'm seriously not complaining here - it's a free cable connection btw (my brother "knows someone" who set this all up). I haven't paid for internet in ages now, would rather buy beer.

I just set up a worshipping part of my house to you in honor of that last sentence. In reality, however, I'm drunk so it might just be a pile of dirty underwear, condom wrappers, and shitty beer bottles.

With my cable internet, I get 10.36 Mbps download, and 0.49 Mbps upload. I really haven't had any problems doing what I want to do with my system, but the ISP did start instituting monthly download "limits" which aren't really limits, but if you exceed it they charge you for the overage and basically force you to buy the retardedly more expensive monthly plan. It's still not as bad as Canada though.

WTF? I get higher bit rates than that on crappy Australian ADSL! 23ms, 12.09Mbps down, 0.79 Mbps up today. I thought cable was supposed to be fast!

Cable is all dependent on the number of people on the system, and the area I live in has a fairly high population density. In addition, I'm on a wireless connection here at my home and have my PS3 on the network as well which was running at the time of the test. Cable is my only option as I am too far from any DSL provider's "hub" to have any benefit.

No, US always has the worst internet, taken as an average across the country. Some places are good, but that 1.5 (~1.45) is my cable, the only cable company here. I'm still 1050ft outside the DSL limit, so it is the only choice for non-dialup.
I could get something actually good from them if I paid another $40 per month, but that ain't happening, so my video streaming is limited to 360p.

But greg IS a midget! - I think being attracted to midgets is allowed if you're actually a midget yourself!

He's not technically a midget (so don't attempt a toss). He was born from a midget and a giant so he looks midget-like but exceeds the mandated maximum height and weight levels instated by the midget community.

I don't know about where you live, but in my neck of the woods, DSL is way slower than cable at the same price point. If you want to pay a lot more, then you can get DSL packages that are actually faster.

The same-speed DSL here, if it existed, Would be $30 unbundled or $15 bundled, as opposed to the $37 and $22 for the cable.
Each of those packages omits the opposition's main service, that is, TV via DSL and phone via cable are not included.
There are additional savings if everything comes from one, but a speed boost would be required as well.

Ironic that people in his time and people in our own are both getting lots of hype about the world ending next year! At least we don't have to worry about all our technology turning on us and running amok because they think its 1900 again though...

Holy crap, I'd hit that just about every single month. What do they do if you go over?
As much as I like to grumble about Comcast, their 250gb limit is pretty reasonable. I've only gone over 200 once, and I was really pushing it then.

Heh. I had fun with a midget tonight. Was able to scratch that off of my life bucket list. To be honest, even though overall they're smaller than a normal human being, her goodie parts were the same as a normal woman's.

Oh... the cable is a lever, and the throughput is dependent on the force required to shift the electrons, which is far greater in the upstream direction than downstream...
No, wait, it's because uploading requires pushing the electrons against the much greater flow coming in, and household current just can't provide the necessary force. Even if it could, doing so would disrupt the flow and the cable TV signal would be degraded...
, because I'm not going to look for a more appropriate one.

If it's cable, because there is effectively no upstream traffic management. As you add users, the reate drops off far quicker than you would expect because of users stomping on each other. You probably live on a segment with relatively few users.
If it's ADSL, you're probably using Annex N modulation, which has other trade-offs

Yeah, I'm familiar with those things. I had DSL for a few years, then got a better deal with cable in the last year and some. DSL company is asking for me back, and I have no contract, but just haven't gotten round to hassling with comparing. I'm paying about fifty bucks a month, which ain't bad I guess, and I'm getting this (two consecutive tries).

The ADSL2 line coding only has a theoretical max of 2 megs upstream depending on cable quality and distance from the dslam. DOCSIS 3 depending on the bonding configuration by the provider, could get you a higher upstream.
BUT: cable modems are on a shared system. So if your neighbor starts a black hole of bandwidth, you suffer.

The big problem with the speedtest.net result is that it shows just how awful most of the country is. My own test is still an "A-":
"Faster than 84% of US," which is really sad.

That's the common wisdom, right? In apartments, the great majority of TV is cable-based, and from what I understand, phone, TV, and net are all going through the same network.

Can live with that too. For 10€ a month... albeit strightly volume capped.

Yup. DOCSIS systems use the same 'pipe' for all of the services.
