I think the last part makes a lot of sense. Part of the reason why flying is such a pain in the ass is because the primary design goal of the airport was to look like a dick, rather than to get passengers efficiently to their planes. I can totally see it.
Am I the only one who thinks a "YouTuber" sounds like some kind of root vegetable?
Anyways. Everyone needs to go back and read David Brin's EARTH. Then they'll cease to be surprised by this kind of thing for at least a couple decades.
Consider it high comedy....sincere tragedy....whatever...don't take it personally.

But... that wasn't part of any series I've read. Maybe when I get caught up on the magazines, after the e-books stop costing as much as (or more than) physical copies.
Amazon has to accompany the listings for kindle books with a disclaimer, that the price was set by the publisher, just to keep down the complaints.

I remember libraries. Google tried to be a library....

That's because they were stopped by one of those law things that said they couldn't offer the full texts of everything ever written for free to anyone who wanted them, unless they got explicit permission to do so from whomever might hold the rights to those texts.

Sometimes I hate those law things, they get in the way of "progress"

Indeed. So do authors wanting a porche and stuff. It might be a fun ride - but I could live without it. Anyways, libraries, man. They buy the books. Or, tax-wise, you do.

The Google Library Project was only going to make available books that couldn't be gotten any other way, with permission, and with ad revenue to pay people. You have to check "Google Library Project" for details, not "Google Books." Money Exists.

Dang, you brought 'facts' into a perfectly good discussion.
