hi all, I was just testing a multi-screen game, and after taking a snapshot within MAME v0.142u3 (official build), the result is a single snapshot with a gap between the screens (see attached image).
snapname is configured for "%g/%i" (without quotes, of course)
is it a bug or am I doing something wrong ?
I deleted all .cfg and game files. did a fresh MAME install.
game: darius2g Darius II Dual Screen (Japan)

that is the expected default result. if you want snaps of a specific screen you need to play with the snapview option (by using values corresponding to the names used in Video Options), and you can get snap of a specific screen, or of both screen without any gap, or even of separate screens in separate snaps (but I think you have to create some custom layout to handle separate windows for separate screens...)
see config.txt for a detailed explanation

strange. my mame.ini is set as default for the following settings. as in "config.txt", these two settings should produce separate snap files for each screen, separated, not as one .png file.
Code:
snapname %g/%i snapsize auto snapview internal
playing the game "darius2d", a 2 screens game, using the above settings, the following files should be created in "snap" folder:
snap\darius2d\0000.png snap\darius2d\0001.png
... but that's not the case with v0.142u3. this build is generating a single file with both screens in it (as you see in the first post):
snap\darius2d\0000.png

Try setting it to gapless in video options (press TAB). No idea if it will help.

plea for help.
from "config.txt"
Quote:
-snapview Specifies the view to use when rendering snapshots and movies. By default, both use a special 'internal' view, which renders a separate snapshot per screen
this means that, if using "internal" viewname, MAME should create 2 (two) separate .png files for EACH screen (on dual screen games).
this is NOT happening on latest MAME builds. only ONE .png file is being created with both screens merged into it. shouldn't the "internal" snapview give me separate files ? if not, what configs should I use to get the separate files ?
I want to get the game screen of playchoice-10 games (and some others), but I only get a single .png file with both screens in it
... older MAME builds used to give me two separate .png files if using "internal" snapview (and "-snapname %g/%i" parameter).
did newer MAME builds have this feature changed ? please help...
