downright sad. how do you not have anyone come knocking for a year? just decomposing and nobody notices. that is the saddest part. i guess all her utilities were on auto-debit and the mortgage was paid off. she sure was hot in her day.

Sad, but it seems to happen more often than you'd think. A story like this seems to pop up once or twice a year. One can only hope that you won't be that utterly alone at the end.
The saddest story like this that I've heard was Layne Staley from Alice in Chains. He was so isolated when he ODed that the only reason anyone came looking for him was his accountant noticed that he hadn't been spending any money.

Because no one was around? Perhaps they wanted it that way? People die. Or leave, or whatever. Whether anyone is around to witness the transition...and most aren't able to even when they are....isn't critical.

Consider it high comedy....sincere tragedy....whatever...don't take it personally.

It's not that the person was alone when they died, it's that not a single person noticed they suddenly weren't around anymore for more than a year. Maybe some people are comfortable with that kind of isolation, but they would be the exception rather than the rule. Most people in that situation would be horribly lonely, humans in general are social creatures by nature.

And therein lies the crux of things....
