Question about Starwars sound sample
#253637 - 05/03/11 07:42 PM

Here's something odd. While I was playing in a cockpit version of Starwars, after I lost (the part where Obiwan says"remember the force is with you" sample).the remember part was not present.only the force is with you. was the sound sample "remember" added to later versions of Starwars?

I’m convinced Mario is a hobo.
He wakes up everyday in the same clothes, runs around in sewers, and collects coins for a living.
At the end of the day, he uses the coins to buy mushrooms

"Remember.. the force will be with you... always." is said after you've died, after Game Over is displayed and while the Title Screen STAR WARS text comes up. MAME behaves correctly.

hmmmm..... why do you think this arcade version didn't have that same sample? Could it be an early version mame doesn't have? Only "remember" isn't said in this version that i've played.i've made a sound sample but i don't know how to attach it.

It could be. If you don't have access to the boards there's not much we can do about it though.

That's true enough.

Simply stated, there is no evidence that there are different sayings between machines when you credit in the game and when you die. They are constant between both revisions in MAME as well as a sample video from Youtube:

When you die, Obiwan says: "Remember.. the Force will be with you... always".
When you credit once, you hear: "The Force will be with you".
If you credit a second time, you hear: ".... always".

In the above video, starting at 1:25 where the unattended player dies, you hear "Remember.." phrase. Shortly thereafter, a a credit entered, you hear the phrase without "Remember..". Again at 9:17 - you again hear the game over speech. This all matches what is in MAME.

I seem to recall from back in the day, that it says remember if you have another credit, and doesn't if there are no credits left.
