Wasn't the attack in retribution for Sony taking legal action against some guys who had hacked PS3s for some reason? I am sure I saw something about this on Good Game on ABC2. The mainstream media have not mentioned any of this, though.

The current 'downtime' isn't really due to 'Anonymous' and as for the account data...none of it was ever encrypted when it was transmitted to the net anyway. PS3's send it all in plain text...BRILLIANT!

It always amazes me. They say you can never secure a network 100%, if someone wants in badly enough, they'll find a way. But you almost never hear of anyone pulling off some amazing hack to get into these places, it's always the same brain-dead shit that brings them down - well-known, long since patched holes, weak passwords, social engineering that a child should be able to see though. Big companies, little companies, it doesn't matter. Heck, HBGary was supposed to be a security specialist and they fell victim to the same thing. You'd think someone would get wise eventually.

HBGary was just a bunch of posers pretending to be security specialists. ![](//www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif)
