Is an Intel Core i5 processor good enough to run Sega Model 3 games in full speed?

Not trying to bug you guys or anything, but if Bart ever adds the dynarec for the later versions of his Model 3 emulator, do you think the games can run in full speed with an Intel Core i5 processor? I'm asking this, because there's some cheap laptop sale going on HP.com or something. One of the cheap laptops has a Core i5 in it. My parents can't really afford a laptop at this moment, though.
If not i5, then what's a good and cheap laptop that will run M3 games perfectly once the speed is actually improved. I know it'll run slow on this current version.
I know I've asked something similar to this already.

Right now, SuperModel relies on the GPU more than the CPU, and that is likely to get more pronounced in the future.
If you aren't trying to run the Step 2.0/2.1 games you can get by with a very modest CPU (a Core i5 will be far, far more than sufficient, especially the Sandy Bridge i5s) as long as your video card is decent (nVidia 7xxx series/AMD 4-series or better).

Well, I mainly want to use this for Step 2.0 and 2.1 games: Harley, DUSA2, etc. And i5 won't work properly for that?

Harley doesn't run properly yet (same problems as Ocean Hunter and ECA). I literally know nothing anymore about CPUs and GPUs (I lost track when I stopped programming back in 2006), so take RB's advice on this stuff
I can only tell you that Daytona USA 2 does appear to be more graphically intensive than, say, Scud Race (much more geometry), but the CPU load should be exactly the same.
I imagine purchasing anything considered "top of the line" (or close to it) within the last year would be fine. Supermodel might get a little bit slower before it gets faster again because I want to get sound working. Adding another CPU to emulate is going to slow things down, I'm sure, and things won't improve until I get it working and can start thinking about writing dynarecs for both PPC and 68K.

Well, RB said it runs "far more than sufficient", so, I guess 2.0 and 2.1 can run decently, but 1.0 and 1.5 can run perfect. That's what I'm assuming. I think R. Belmont's advice sort of helps.

is there any reason why you cannot download supermodel and try by yourself? it's been released...

Well, I actually did try it.
The processor I have is an Intel Celeron. Runs Model 3 very slow. It is an old CPU, too.

A 9800 is better than a 7xxx, so yes
With SM, the video card determines how large a resolution you can go, just like with PC gaming. Without a lot more testing by people we won't know what the limits are on various video cards for sure.
