Great work, it looks very close, that Daytona 2 beginner track is much more interesting than the boring looking power edition beginner track.
1 Question
Will this progress be implemented into the next version of MAME!

Very impressive indeed! Now the big question....
What are the system specs you are running to record the video at that speed?

When I played "Harley-Davidson & L.A. Riders" on MAME32 0.120, it was actually faster than usual, but it was unplayable when the 1st stage started, crashed, and had lagging sound.
Are you going to support the daughter board for that game?

Daytona 2 looks damn good for that, even if it's not perfect, I can agree with Guru or whoever said that Model 3 games were graphically better than Naomi and that xP

The right Artist can do amazing things.
The steal dome itself in Daytona 2 is way ahead of it's time, WII and PS3 and 360 are the 1st home systems to deliver visuals of that Quality, even though Xbox, Naomi, PS2, all superior to model 3.

You won't find a large Structure that solid looking and with that depth in any of the console games prior to WII and 360 and so on. Not saying they can't do it, just saying you won't find one in any of the games.

These are off of a Linux workstation with a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo and some sort of Nvidia card (I forget which, but the machine is about 3 years old).

And GLQuake, and the GameCube version of Resident Evil 4, and several hundred PS2 and Dreamcast games...
Also, Model 3 only output 496x384. Dreamcast/PS2/Gamecube/Xbox/Naomi all ran 640x480.

Model 3 certainly cannot compare to any of those systems (although it was definitely way ahead of its time, both in terms of pixel-pushing power and hardware T&L) but GLQuake? I can't imagine Quake having any problems on Model 3.

On paper no.
The Daytona 2 Arcade Medium Track looks a little bit better and is Running at a higher Frame rate than the one in Outrun 2 on XBOX.

I don't agree that this looks worse than the Model 3 version or that it necessarily must be running at a lower frame rate. There appear to be no noticeable difference in the textures or geometry.

Yeah true, they look about the same, the Arcade a little bit better cause of the longer View Distance.
The XBox version sucked though, it was missing the Giant Spider Alien and the RollerCoaster, it has the rails but no RollerCoaster.
Once the lighting and that is Emulated properly it will look Great.

Thanks for posting this video! This game looks nice.
What gives Model 3 games that distinctive "look" on the arcade screen -- (and I suppose this is true for all 3D hardware, albeit in different ways) is the lighting and shading. At this point, I think most of the lighting parameters are understood but some of the shading details, namely exactly how material properties are applied and where the specular component is defined, are not quite there yet.
I haven't yet hooked up ECA in Supermodel. I've got a huge back-log of things to do. If it's like other Step 2.1 games (Ocean Hunter, Harley, LA Machineguns), it's not likely to work very well.

No Probs.
They would look pretty good running on a pc at 60fps, probably not as good as on the Arcade monitors though cause they are built for them.
Cause you can't notice the Anti-Aliasing when they run in slow motion.

Dude, we're talking about 15 year old hardware. Yes, it was impressive for it's time, and I still enjoy the 60fps visuals. But I don't delude myself into thinking the textures are better than modern ones.

Might be an off-topic question, kind of. But what kind of duo-core processor will I need to run these Model 3 games perfectly without any lag at all? I've got a Celeron, which runs Model 2 slowly while attempting to run at 60 fps.

For now, because I am using a slow C interpreter, you want the fastest CPU possible. If you're having trouble running Model 2, Model 3 is unlikely to perform well. There is a lot of work to be done before I implement a dynarec, which should add a substantial speed boost.

So, I might need a processor like an Intel Core i5 or i7 to run these games in full speed?

Fastest CPU... Im using a Phenom II X6, but how many cores is gonna use? 2? Well, I running each core at 3.3ghz though, along with a HD5750 :P
I cant wait to test that thing with FSAA x8 at fullspeed (If It supports it or if I can force it)
