I read in one of the early news reports that the part of Japan that was hit with the quake actually dropped several feet, which made the flooding worse and probably explains why there was so much standing water afterward. However, I haven't seen anything mention the "drop" since.
My wife isn't taking advantage of the evacuation. At least not unless it becomes mandatory. Fuji erupting would almost certainly destroy everything I own as well. With my wife still there... I would seriously need some suicide intervention. Perhaps for the rest of my life.
Just broke my personal record for number of consecutive days without dying!
