I know it does BIN.CUE without issue - unsure about ISO.CUE.
Are you using the proper format of the CHDMAN command?
CHDMAN -createcd diskname.cue diskname.chd

If so, use the one that comes with released with the 0.141 package and see if that helps.

I don't think CUE files are supposed to be used with ISO files. They are normally used with WAV, MP3 and BIN files. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cue_sheet
An ISO file is a disc image that stands by itself.

So it sounds like he needs to burn the ISO then rip the CD or DVD to CUE/BIN or CUE/WAV, etc.

ISO requires Cues for most programs that don't read the directories directly. ISO Can't handle CDDA data so they must be seperate.

Anyway, I found that on the cues that crash CHDMAN, even without the .iso extension, that they all use "TRACK 01 MODE1/2048" where as say a CDi title I tried *after modding the file path for an absolute one* used "TRACK 01 MODE2/2352". Could this be it?

I've never seen a CUE sheet with an ISO file. The ISO file contains the disc layout information in it already.

Can you open the ISO file with ImgBurn or 7-Zip?

Often SEGA games are ripped to iso, butt iso doesn't support CDDA so they use a cue which lists the iso as track on eand the mp3s/wavs as track 2/3/4 ect. You might be thinking of Bin/Cue which can handle CDDA data inside the bin.

I can open it with Magic ISO and WinRar, which Magic ISO is realy strict with isos.

So, it must be a mixed mode disc. Will one of these discs play in an audio CD player?
Like you said, ISO does not support CDDA (or multiple tracks either). It would seem this type of disc need should avoid ISO altogether and use BIN/CUE and WAV/CUE instead. I wonder how ImgBurn would handle creating the CUE file.

CUE/ISO and (worse) CUE/ISO/MP3 are relatively common on the Internet, especially with poor-quality rips. TOSEC and Redump.org sets are generally better-quality CUE/BIN/WAV.

The crash problem is likely PEBKAC given Naoki posted over on bannister indicating that he has no idea what the correct parameter order is for CHDMAN.

Tip: chdman -createcd whatever.cue whatever.chd

I do know how to use CHDMAN, I have made CHDs for MAME and MESS before that work, it's just with these console CD's they crash it and I can't find why. The only one to have worked so far is a Hotel Mario CD-i disc. All other games have been Mode 1 in the cue, so would that be another thing to check?

I gave it a Bin/Cue, checked the mode was compatible and still nothing... there has to be something I'm not getting..

Is anyone getting problems when trying to use a cue with a seperate wav file? I opened the same cue in Daemon Tools, ripped it to Cue/Bin withMAgicIso and it's working fine now.

cue/bin/wav and cue/iso/wav rips both are known to work fine. You're either doing something wrong or you need to toss the offending rip on megaupload or whatnot and PM me the link.
