Could be worse... they would keep asking why the steering in 720 degrees is so strange...

I upgraded to a 1ghz Epia and its still slow.
Nano ITX and their cousins are great for size but not very practical for Mame. I think I saw this on BYOAC and it is cool. I would hazard a guess and say Atom ION should run Dkong ok with this setup.
Oh BTW Mappy and New Zealand Story is slooow too - guess they had sound enhancements too....

Mappy doesn't seem slow here (about 300% unthrottled on a Athlon X2 4400) .. it might be on a p3 though. New Zealand Story and others in that driver require a prefect sync between it's main/sub/audio processors in order to run properly which slows overall performance down.
God created frameskip for a reason!

Well, there's always clone versions around. Almost like the real thing.

try older The NewZealand Story sets:
tnzsjo The NewZealand Story (Japan, old version) (older PCB) tnzso The NewZealand Story (World, old version) (older PCB) tnzsop The NewZealand Story (World, prototype?) (older PCB)
they should run fine, 'cause they have less CPUs.

Thinking about it, I'm kind of curious why frameskip has remained for the last few years. If my machine can't handle the version number, I use an earlier one, or I just don't use that machine.
If you're wanting to play games after...'85...and even using TinyXP, a 700mhz-level machine is good at most for .69 .
Although, in the case of TNS, I can't see anything in the game worth caring about.

Yeah Thanks for the info.
I was given a dual core laptop with a smashed screen today for the cab, and I get 100% on nearly everything now.
So you guys are free to bloat as much as you want, as far as I am concerned. The P3 is going to a loving home.

Now I haven't heard that for several years. Epia..... I have a 61-in-1 MAME ripoff that runs on an EPIA 1GHz board. It's actually not bad speed-wise but it's a custom optimized version of a very old MAME.
